PAWS VISITS STUDENTS DURING NEWSPAPERS IN EDUCATION EVENT TUESDAY
WHAT: Detroit’s favorite mascot, PAWS, and Detroit Newspapers
in Education mascot, YAK,
will join representatives from the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Newspapers in Education as
they read “The ABC’s of Detroit Tigers Baseball” to elementary students on Tuesday.

WHY: The Detroit Tigers have partnered with Detroit Public Schools and the Detroit Free
Press’ Newspapers in Education to create a reading program to combat illiteracy.
NOTE: “The ABC’s of Detroit Tigers Baseball,” a children’s book written by the Detroit Tigers
Wives, is available for purchase at Borders, Barnes & Noble and the Tigers Pro Shop at
Comerica Park, or by calling 313-471-2135. The 29 page, hardcover book, features colorful illustrations that define Tigers baseball from A-to-Z and includes the Spanish-language translation of each English term. In addition, each page includes a related 'Tiger Tidbit' such as historical records, fun facts or player records teaching fans of all ages about the storied Tigers franchise.
