First of all, why do they even bother putting these odds out there right now? I guess people can take these odds now and lose lots of monies, but seriously, it's two days after the Yankees won the World Series for sobbing to yourself.
Second, what exit on the highway do these people get off putting the Cubs, Mets, and White Sox in there ahead of the Twins? How can they predict three teams that didn't even make the playoffs a month ago are all of a sudden that much better than a team that did make the playoffs? Neither the Cubs, Mets, or White Sox have made any miraculous moves in the past couple days to warrant this. The White Sox I can actually somewhat understand since Peavy and Rios were late season additions, but even then, it's not like they got better. In fact, their record got worse -- they tanked. It still doesn't make sense considering nothing's changed over the past month, other than the fact Ozzie Guillen got to do a little analyst work.
Third, yeah I'm a little bitter the Tigers are not in there. The Tigers were in Game 163 and were in first place for five months, so you'd think their odds to win the World Series would be a little better than some non-playoff teams that had less of a shot to even make the playoffs than them last year. I don't see Detroit getting terribly worse.
I'm not going to get too worked up about it now, though. It's November freaking 7th. Take a breather, watch some football, watch some basketball, and spend some time with your family. I'll see you in a few weeks for the Winter Meetings.
